When it comes to cleaning and deburring metal parts, especially brass, using ceramic, porcelain, cob, walnut, and other tumbling medias are all inferior compared to stainless steel pins. Stainless steel pins are able to get your item looking like new.
Created from extremely tough 302/304 stainless steel, these pins will last for thousands of cleanings. These pins are designed for rotary tumblers. They can also be used in certain vibratory tumblers (check your tumbler's compatibility before purchasing).
Stainless steel pins will not rust, fracture, or breakdown during the tumbling process. These pins are very small, with a length of 0.255" and diameter of 0.047". The only reason you buy more pins is to replenish the ones you lose (which is inevitable).
These pins are magnetic, allowing you to easily separate and pick them up with a strong magnet. We recommend using a neodymium or large coated ceramic magnet to capture all the pins that fall out of the tumbler.
These are the same stainless steel pins we use in our brass tumbling and cleaning process. The only difference when using these for personal use at home is that you use less pins.
This item is for 2 pounds of stainless pins. We also sell pins in 1, 2.5, 3, 5, 10, 20, and 25 pound bags, as well as 2 oz packets.
For a 1 gallon rotary tumbler, 5 pounds of pins are needed to clean your items quickly and efficiently. More pins may slightly speed up the process, but using too many pins can potentially cause poor cleaning performance.
The primary purpose for stainless steel pin tumbling media is to clean brass cartridges. These pins are able to get your brass looking like new and make the primer pocket and flash hole look spotless without getting jammed inside your case.
These pins are not designed for vibratory tumblers, although they MAY work in such tumblers (check your product manual for application). These pins will NOT work in ultrasonic cleaners.
